Through Honeydews Kitchen food blog, I have been able to share my passion for writing, healthful eating and  recipe development with readers who also share the same interests. In addition to creating healthy recipes, cooking and  nutrition, I also enjoy gardening, photography, and taking walks by the lake in the summer with my husband Jim and  my spunky Jack Russel terrier Angel. My professional background includes employment as a RDN, Registered and Licensed Dietitian for 32 years in the health care industry. I began writing a food blog after my retirement since I now have more time to devote to my culinary interests and writing. If you have an interest in healthful eating yet do not want to spend all day in the kitchen preparing meals, you will enjoy this blog. The majority of recipes that I choose to post are not time consuming. I also believe that it is not necessary to omit entire food groups in order to consume a balanced diet. I have noticed so much of this in recent years and personally do not feel that it is healthy. A nutritious diet should be balanced and include a variety of foods including whole grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy or non-dairy sources of calcium and healthy fats. If you have a sweet tooth like me, enjoy these foods in moderation!
